My Green Lab attended the GC3 Roundtable meeting this week at the Nike factory in Portland, OR. From their website, the GC3 is a "a business-to-business forum that advances the application of green chemistry and design for environment across supply chains. It provides an open forum for cross-sectoral collaboration to share information and experiences about the challenges to and opportunities for safer chemicals and products."
We learned of some truly exciting and innovative ideas being applied across supply chains. We also learned of the incredible work being done in universities across the country to build Green Chemistry into their curricula. The obvious next step is to start practicing Green Chemistry in our labs - and not just our chemistry labs, but our biology and physics labs as well. In fact, Sigma-Aldrich is already ahead of the curve, having expressed a commitment to educating their customers on safer chemical alternatives.
