Only purge the atmosphere after using volatile or very reactive chemicals or solvents, or when otherwise necessary.  Do not let the purge run for more than five minutes.

Purging the atmosphere allows the rapid flow of new nitrogen gas into the atmosphere and expel of the current atmosphere. Purging for up to 5 minutes will allow the atmosphere to be completely replaced. To lower oxygen and other contaminant levels further, the atmosphere must cycle through the properly used and maintained catalyst bed.
