Measure power consumption of equipment and be aware of how to save energy.

Understanding how much power your lab equipment uses is fundamental to creating a plan for improved energy efficiency in the lab.  There are many different metering devices available to measure the energy consumption of laboratory equipment, and several of these may be available from your local utility company.  It is always advisable to check with your Sustainability Director or utility company before using a specific meter.
One product that has been utilized for measuring power consumption in freezers is a Watt’s Up Meter.
