Use heptane(s) instead of hexane(s).
Hexane is a neurotoxin and a hazardous air pollutant. In the body, n-hexane is oxidized to the neurotoxin 2,5-hexanedione*. Heptane is recommended as a seamless alternative for the vast majority of cases where hexane is traditionally employed.
